Midgardian politics is a very strange thing–and I say this advisedly, as one who has seen–and done–many, many strange things. A small percentage of the populace cares passionately who is elected. Another portion of the people do not care at all, so long as they are left alone. Most Midgardians in this country, I find, view voting as a "whining license" and will exercise their right of free speech to moan about whoever is elected–even if they voted for them.
Tsk, tsk. Foolish humans. Would you not rather elect a known quantity? Is it not simpler to give in to the inevitable and let someone stronger, wiser, more cunning, more ruthless, and better-looking rule you? Someone whom you know up front is slippery and mutable. Someone who doesn’t give with one hand and take away with the other?* Who will treat everyone beneath him equally?**
Take up your pens and choose a leader for the ages!
* Because it’s all mine and I am not giving any of it away.
**with an even-handed contempt.
