After a succession of dreary-ish days, there is actually some sun and pleasant weather, so when the human female suggested we all go for a walk, my acquiescence was less grudging than usual. Also, I know she has plans to call up her sister while she is walking. When she does this, she often pauses on the little bridge in the neighborhood, leaving Sigyn and me free to wander off and explore a bit. Anything to get away from the guffawing and cackling into which such a sororal confabulation usually devolves.
Sigyn was first to spot something in flower. What is this morning-glory doing open in the afternoon?
I guess the whole Daylight Savings Time thing has everyone confused.
The goldenrod has nearly finished flowering for the year. Its tall, wand-like stems are fairly easy to climb. Today is rather a breezy day, so examining this swaying plant is as much of a ride as a botany lesson. Sigyn, are you holding on tightly? Please use both hands!
Oooh, look! Berries! Don’t they look plump and delicious?
Wait, though! This is peppervine, and the fruit are NOT edible.
Still, the human female is always moaning about how expensive fresh blueberries are. I think that in baked goods or pancakes, these would nearly indistinguishable from the real thing. I shall hop down from here and teleport home to get a basket so we can pick some for her.
Just remember, sweetie, not to sample the next batch of her muffins…
